MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Cobb County Mountain View Aquatic Center will reopen to the public on October 15 in Marietta.
Recently, the facility closed for renovations to improve the air quality. According to Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, the renovation was part of the 201 Cobb County Special Purpose Local Sales Tax Option.
"Prior to the renovation, the aquatic center's decade-old HVAC system struggled - the system was failing and it couldn't handle the heavy load, especially with the significant task of dehumidifying the indoor pool," Bob McCallister, Aquatics Manager for Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department said. "Thanks to the SPLOST funds, not only is the air quality better, the facility is more attractive."
Other work on the facility include fresh paint, new ceiling tiles, door hardware replacement, resurfacing of pool and bulkhead surfaces, replacement of broken tile and shower grout, and an updated entrance with a new counter and landscaping.
Following the reopening, there will be a ribbon cutting on Monday, October 22 at 3:30 p.m. at Mountain View Aquatic Center.
