Lake Forest, IL (Sports Network) - Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Alshon
Jeffery is expected to be sidelined from 4-to-6 weeks after reportedly
fracturing his right hand during the team's win at Jacksonville on Sunday.
Jeffery, Chicago's second-round pick in the 2012 draft, apparently suffered
the injury while making a 10-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter of the
Bears' 41-3 rout of the Jaguars. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, he will
not need surgery to repair the break but is still likely to be sidelined at
least a month.
The former South Carolina standout had amassed 14 catches totaling 184 yards
and two touchdowns over his first five NFL games.
Chicago will have a bye in Week 6 before returning to action against Detroit
on Oct. 22.
