El Paso, TX (Sports Network) - Dylan Talley led four teammates in double
figures with 21 points as the Nebraska Cornhuskers cruised by the Central
Michigan Chippewas, 89-75, at the Don Haskins Center as part of the Sun Bowl
Invitational.
Talley was 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and added seven rebounds in the
Nebraska (8-3) victory. David Rivers contributed 20 points and seven rebounds
off the bench. Ray Gallegos and Brandon Ubel scored 19 and 14 points,
respectively.
For the Chippewas (6-5), Kyle Randall recorded a game-high 27 points, hitting
all 15 of his free throw attempts, and he also grabbed eight rebounds. John
Simons scored 14 points and Blake Hibbitts had 11 points off the bench.
Nebraska scored the first 10 points of the game and went into halftime with a
43-33 advantage.
The Cornhuskers continued their solid play in the second half, hitting on 51.7
percent of their field goal attempts, and their lead never dipped below seven
points.
Nebraska shot 50 percent from long-range, making 9-of-18. It will take on the
winner of Arkansas Pine Bluff/Texas-El Paso on Sunday.
