Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Kedren Johnson scored 15 points, leading four
players in double figures, as the Vanderbilt Commodores posted a 73-61 win
over the Auburn Tigers in SEC action at Memorial Gym.
Kyle Fuller accounted for 14 points off the bench for the Commodores (8-9, 2-3
SEC), followed by Kevin Bright and Sheldon Jeter with 12 and 10 points,
respectively, as the team won for the second time in as many games.
The Tigers (8-10, 2-3) were paced by Rob Chubb and Frankie Sullivan with 14
points apiece, while Brian Greene tacked on 11 off the bench as the squad
suffered a third straight setback.
Auburn shot an impressive 50 percent from the floor in the first half,
compared to just 35.7 percent for the hosts, yet it was Vandy that owned a
34-27 advantage at the break as it outscored the Tigers 10-1 at the free-throw
line in the period.
In the second half the Commodores again shot well at the free-throw line, 14-
of-18, and at the same time limited Auburn to just 35.5 percent accuracy from
the floor, en route to the double-digit win.
Both teams made good on 9-of-24 behind the 3-point line on the night, the big
difference coming at the charity stripe where Vandy held a 24-8 scoring edge.
