FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. -- Floyd County Sheriff's deputies say an inmate was mistakenly released from jail before his sentence was over.
It happened around noon Tuesday.
According to a press release, Charles Earl Abney Jr. was serving a sentence for a probation violation and had 30 days left.
Once the mistake was made deputies started a search for Abney. They found him in Bartow County and re-arrested him without incident.
Floyd County Sheriff Burkhalter has launched an investigation into why the inmate was released early.
