MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities in middle Georgia are working to identify a set of human remains that were found in the woods.
Macon Police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet says a group of private contractors stumbled across a human skull Monday and called authorities. Officials say the remains have only been identified as those of a white male.
Authorities say the rest of the man's body was found a short distance from his skull.
Officials are unsure of the man's cause of death. The man's remains have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for examination.
