ATLANTA, Ga. -- A 19-year-old man who led GSP troopers on a pursuit Tuesday afternoon has been arrested and charged.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, authorities attempted to stop the suspect after he was observed weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed around 5:35 p.m. near Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard and Interstate 20 east.
The suspect reportedly pulled over but then sped away, leading authorities on a brief pursuit.
Authorities say the driver got onto the Downtown Connector and then exited at Freedom Parkway making several turns onto neighborhood streets before he crashed near Pine Street and Angier Avenue.
The suspect, Bennie Henderson of College Park, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital after he complained of injury but he will be taken to the Fulton County Jail and charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, driving on a suspended license, driving under the influence, obstruction, and other related traffic charges.
