DAWSON, Ga. -- Chris Wright, the 23-year-old mayor of Dawson, Ga., is in critical condition after being shot multiple times during an apparent home invasion.
WALB in Albany, Ga., reported that Wright was shot late Thursday. He lives with his mother in the small Terrell County town. The suspects reportedly tied up the mother before shooting Wright.
Wright was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
He was elected last November; at the time, he was 22 years old and the youngest mayor in Georgia, according to WALB.
Dawson is located just northwest of Albany in south Georgia.
