SUWANEE, Ga. -- Investigators are trying to figure out who is behind hate speech that was graffitied onto buildings and sidewalks overnight at a Gwinnett County School, officials confirmed.
According to a spokeswoman with the Gwinnett County School System, vandals spray painted statements that included hate speech as well as political speech that referenced both candidates from the recent election.
Graffiti was found primarily on the back side of the school building and in the stadium, on the sidewalks of the school grounds, on signage inside the stadium and on five trailers. Some of the graffiti was profane-laden and included curse words, racial slurs and swastikas. Officials said the vandals also tore down banners inside the school stadium.
11Alive's SkyTracker flew over the scene as maintenance spent Tuesday cleaning up the damage and painting over the graffiti.
School resource officers are now reviewing video footage and are investigating the situation to find out who is responsible. Officials said they plan to prosecute.
