Georgia police officer dies in motorcycle crash

TEMPLE, Ga. -- A Temple, Ga. police office was killed in an motorcycle accident on Thursday, according to a Facebook post by the department.

Officer David Head was off-duty when the accident occurred, the post stated.

"Officer David Head was an outstanding officer that cared for this community and loved what he did," the post states. "He touched many people and will never be forgotten. It was an honor to be his lieutenant and to work side by side with him."

More than 1,000 people have reacted to the Facebook post and another 700 have shared it. 

"R.I.P my friend, my brother. We will take the watch from here," the post reads. "Please keep his family in your prayers."
