ATLANTA - Tommy Ford made thousands of fans when he appeared in the 1990s sitcom “Martin”. On Wednesday, those fans began to mourn his loss following a rumor that the star passed away on social media.
While Ford, 52, is battling an unknown condition at the hospital, a rep for the actor told 11Alive that he is not dead.
Joy Pervis, a rep for the J Pervis Talent Agency, confirmed with 11Alive that the star is still currently in the hospital.
The rumors about the status of Ford’s condition caused an uproar of memes and condolences about the star.
Comedian Anthony Anderson tweeted, “Thank you all for your prayers but we lost #TommyFord this morning. May GOD rest his soul and comfort his family!”
He later retracted his tweet saying, “Actor Tommy Ford, has not passed away, his agent tells me. A lot of erroneous reports out there."
Actress Terry J Vaughn also tweeted “TOMMY FORD has not passed!!! He’s not doing well at all. Keep praying FOR A MIRACLE!!!”

Ford posted pictures on his Instagram account earlier this month. It appears he had a knee replacement surgery and was on a road to recovery in a series of posts.
Ford is most popular from his role on the hit sitcom "Martin" when played the role of Tommy Strawn. He also had roles in shows New York Undercover and The Parkers.
Martin Lawrence, the star of "Martin", tweeted his supported to Ford on Wednesday.
