After Julia was downgraded to a tropical depression early on Thursday, a hurricane hunter plane flew into it to get more data. They found that it has regained tropical storm status. At the 5pm update, Julia had max winds of 40mph. It was about 100 miles east of the Carolina coastline.
The storm will meander off the coast for the next couple of days. It is forecast to weaken to a tropical depression again Friday. A few showers are possible along the coastline. We don't expect any major rain or wind there, though.
It still looks like it won't have any impact on our weather in the metro area.
