Police investigate connection between robberies and murders

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are hoping that if they can identify four suspects wanted for two armed robberies, they may be able to solve a double murder.

Police released surveillance video from a BP gas station on Metropolitan Parkway of four men using property stolen in the robberies to buy goods and withdraw money from an ATM.

The four are suspects in two robberies that happened early in the morning on Mar. 14 on North Highland Avenue. The first robbery happened at the intersection with Los Angeles Avenue when a man and woman were held up at gunpoint.

About 11 minutes later, a victim was robbed getting out of his car in the back parking lot to his apartment at 513 North Highland Avenue.

Police say the four suspects have been connected to the two robberies.

"We do believe that these males represent some threat to public safety and we would like to get them identified and speak to them as soon as possible," said Atlanta Police Capt. Michael O'Connor.

Police are also investigating whether the four are connected to a double homicide that happened in a parking lot outside the Vortex five minutes after the second robbery.

Chad Kelsey, 32, and Joe Hruska, 33, were shot and killed after leaving a local bar. The three crimes happened within a mile and within about 15 minutes.

"We believe that those two robberies occurred within a time frame and a distance that we have not been able to rule the suspects in those two robberies out of the double homicide," Capt. O'Connor said.

Police are hoping someone can identify the suspects so they can question them and rule them in or out of the homicides.

Anyone who knows the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
