Fla. gun store declares itself 'Muslim-free'

INVERNESS, Fla. -- A gun store has declared itself a Muslim-free zone in the wake of the shooting of military recruiters in Tennessee. In response, a Muslim group has called in federal authorities.

"Now, I have a moral and legal responsibility to ensure the safety of all patriots in my community," says owner Andy Hallinan, narrator of the Florida Gun Supply video, in front of a Confederate flag. "And so effective immediately I'm declaring Florida Gun Supply a Muslim-free zone. I will not arm and train those who wish to do harm to my fellow patriots."

Other changes announced by the store at 118 North Pine Ave. include making its concealed carry classes are free and opening the shooting range to the public.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations says it has asked the Department of Justice to investigate the store's declaration as a possible civil rights violation.

CAIR says that systematically banning Muslims from such businesses is a violation of federal laws prohibiting racial and religious discrimination in public accommodations.
