Police: 30 shots fired, 2 injured at Wisconsin cycle shop

NEENAH, Wis. — Two people, one of them a police officer, were injured Saturday after an estimated 30 shots were fired at a motorcycle shop here, officials said.

Police from multiple agencies cordoned off a several block radius for more than five hours, guns drawn, as the drama unfolded with one, and possibly two, suspects holed up inside the Eagle Nation Cycles shop.

"It's every community's nightmare," Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert said Saturday afternoon.

Kaufert said he was told by police that an estimated 30 shots were fired.

By 1:30 p.m. CT, Neenah Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson said everything appeared to be safe at the scene. Two people had walked out of the building with their hands in the air.

An officer was injured, but the injuries were not considered life threatening, Wilkinson said.

Wilkinson said that police received information about shots fired at Eagle Nation Cycles shortly before 9 a.m. He said officials learned that there was a man with a gun with potential hostages.

Anyone within a quarter mile of the scene was asked to stay inside until officers told them otherwise.
