
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons made a number of cuts on Saturday to take their roster down to the 53 player league limit. Included in the cuts is former starting quarterback Joey Harrington.
Harrington led the Falcons during last year's season, and only started one game during this year's pre-season.
Other players cut include D'Anthony Batiste, Eric Brock, Michael Butterworth, Deke Cooper, Doug Datish, Willie Evans, Wilrey Fontenot, Kynan Forney, Brandon Miller, Rashad Moore, Terrance Pennington, Mickey Pimentel, Marcus Pollard, Glenn Sharpe, Montavious Stanley, Daren Stone, Cameron Vaughn, Eric Weems, Chandler Williams and Keith Zinger.
The Falcons are set to open the season next Sunday against the visiting Detroit Lions with new starting quarterback Matt Ryan.
