PHOENIX, AZ -- A taser manufacturer says police officers should not shoot stun guns at a suspect's chest.
Taser International released its advisory last week in a training bulletin.
The company says shooting the gun at a person's chest can pose a risk of a mild "adverse cardiac event."
Taser International says the bulletin does not state that Tasers can cause cardiac arrest.
Company officials say the advisory is meant to help law enforcement agencies avoid controversy if their officers aim the stun gun at areas other than the chest.
