WARREN COUNTY, Ohio -- An Ohio mom charged in the death of her newborn baby was released on bond.
Brooke Skylar Richardson, 18, was indicted on five counts, including aggravated murder, involuntary manslaughter, child endangering, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse.
According to 11Alive's NBC affiliate WLWT in Ohio, Richardson pleaded not guilty to those charges Monday. A judge granted Richardson a $50,000 bond, saying he did not believe she posed an imminent threat.
The charges stem from an investigation, which uncovered skeletal remains of a baby behind a home in Carlisle, Ohio. Investigators said that after the child was born, the 18-year-old burned the baby and buried the remains in her backyard. Investigators said the child's cause of death is unknown and will likely remain so due to the lack of evidence.
According to WLWT, the 18-year-old had just graduated from high school where she was a cheerleader. Prosecutors claim Richardson and her mother, who is not charged in the case, were both obsessed with external appearances and allege that was one motivating factor in the incident.
