Rescue dog undergoes eye surgery

ATLANTA – A local veteran is helping a dog get a new lease on life.

Grant is a golden retriever who was rescued from the streets of Turkey. He was one of 36 dogs brought to Atlanta by the non-profit group "Adopt a Golden Atlanta."

On Tuesday, Grant had one of his eyes removed at Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners hospital.

He had a mass in his eye that was removed to eliminate the possibility that the tumor would get bigger.

The non-profit says they got 500 adoption applications for the 36 dogs from Turkey. They aren't accepting any more applications.
