NASA's Curiosity rover landed on Mars early Monday morning after a harrowing descent through the Martian atmosphere, where the car-sized vehicle deccelerated from more than 13,000 mph to 200 mph before parachutes dropped the rover to the soil on the surface of the Red Planet.
