GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Police in Gainesville, Ga. are searching for a gunman who fatally shot a man in front of his son.
According to the Gainesville Police Department, two men attempted to rob Dennis Gayton during "drug-related activity" on Carlton Street around 9:30 p.m. April 4.
The gunman fired into Gayton's vehicle, killing him and causing the vehicle to crash.
Gayton's 15-year-old son was in the vehicle at the time, police said. The teen, who was supposed to the be in the custody of a relative, was not injured from gunfire, but did receive minor injuries either from the crash or while fleeing the scene.
The two suspects fled the scene towards the Milll Street area in the Newtown community.
On Tuesday, police released a sketch of the alleged gunman. He's described at being stock and standing between 5'3" and 5'6". The second suspect is described as taller with a skinny build.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or sending a tip at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
