What to know about early, weekend voting in Georgia

Weekend voting for the Nov. 8 election begins in metro Atlanta. Here is what yo know.

ATLANTA - Early, in-person voting began in Georgia on Monday and runs for three weeks leading up to Election Day on November 8.

A mandatory Saturday voting day will be held on October 29, but many counties have added more weekend days to early voting schedules.

Friday, November 4 is the last day for early voting. 

Voters will not go to their regular polling places for early voting. Instead, they can choose to go to any of the early voting locations established by county election boards. 

Most counties will open a handful of early voting locations during the first two weeks and add more during the final week before Election Day.

Close to 6.6 million voters are registered in Georgia after a surge of voter registrations this election year.

More than 38,000 absentee ballots have already been returned to the Georgia Secretary of State's office.
