ATLANTA (AP) -- The hundreds of thousands of Georgia voters who headed to the polls for the presidential race were largely greeted by surprisingly short waits.
That was a welcome change from the lengthy lines that frustrated metro Atlanta voters who waited hours to cast their ballot last week.
But vote counting hit a snag late last night as early voting numbers were slow to trickle in.
Secretary of State Karen Handel's office said early voting totals from Fulton and Gwinnett counties had yet to be counted.
Early voting numbers in those two counties alone totaled more than 275,000 votes.
A Handel spokesman, Matt Carrothers, said the snag is "just part of the process." But he said the counties will continue counting the votes throughout the evening.
Fulton County officials says they expect the results to be uploaded shortly. A county spokeswoman -- Jessica Corbitt -- says she's not sure there was a problem.
