Teen accused of brutally stabbing cousin being held without bond

A Cobb County community is in shock after a high school student was found brutally stabbed to death. Olivia Smith is accused of killing her step-cousin Abbey Hebert, 17 during a sleepover after Friday night football.

ACWORTH, Ga. -- Grief counselors were scheduled to be on hand Monday at Allatoona High School, where Abbey Hebert attended.

The 17-year-old was found brutally stabbed to death in the front yard of her own home Saturday morning.

The suspect is 18-year-old Olivia Smith. Both young women were not only close friends but they were also step-cousins and who had a sleepover after Friday night's football game, right before this happened.

Acworth Police police say the motive for murder is still under investigation.

11Alive's Ryan Kruger talked by phone with Abby's father, who is devastated and still trying to figure out how and why.

"My daughter loved life," the victim's father said. "She was the only child I had. She was my world."

Olivia Smith is being held without bond at the Cobb County jail.

Meanwhile, on social media, students encouraged each other to wear black to Allatoona High School on Monday to honor Abby.
