TIMELINE | Teens accused of killing Gwinnett grandparents

The couple's 17-year-old granddaughter and her 19-year-old boyfriend have been charged in their murders.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Police believe a couple was dead for about a week before police made a forced entry into their home and found their bodies. 

Two teenagers are charged in their deaths. One of those teens is the granddaughter of the victims. As the case develops, police released this timeline of events. The cause of death for both victims was an incision to the throat, according to police.

Gwinnet Police Department said, "This is a very unique and disturbing case on so many levels and detectives are still exploring motive. We may never find a scenario that makes sense to a reasonable person."

BEGINNING OF APRIL

Cassandra Bjorge and Johnny Rider, both 17, are suspected of killing Wendy and Randall Bjorge sometime during the first week of the month.

APRIL 6

6:09 PM: Police conduct a welfare check at the Bjorge's 1911 Furlong Run home at the request of a family member who had not heard from them in a week. Officers knock on the door, witness nothing suspicious and leave. 

8:19 PM: A Check Often as Possible procedure is requested for the couple.

APRIL 7

4:43 PM: Police conduct a welfare check at the Bjorge's 1911 Furlong Run home at the request of a family member who had not heard from them in a week. Officers knock on the door, witness nothing suspicious and leave. 

8:58 PM: Family member files missing person's report for Randall Bjorge.

APRIL 8

8:30 PM: Police respond to an attack on Johnny Rider's sister and her boyfriend. Rider is accused of attacking them along with an unknown female. Missing could Randall and Wendy Bjorge's car is found at the scene.

11:13 PM: Police return to the Bjorge home and make forced entry. Randall and Wendy Bjorge were found dead.

11:29 PM: Police say Johnny Rider and Cassandra Bjorge steal Rider's sister's vehicle from the first scene of the assault earlier that evening.

APRIL 9

3:57 AM: The stolen vehicle is recovered at 4025 McGinnis Ferry Road in Suwanee.

9:54 AM: SWAT team was called to the McGinnis Ferry Rd. location.

12:13 PM: Johnny Rider and Cassandra Bjorge are taken into custody by the Gwinnett County SWAT team. They are transported to the hospital with self-inflicted knife wounds to their wrists.

APRIL 11

Gwinnett Police charged Rider with battery in the assault of his sister and her boyfriend.

APRIL 12

Gwinnett police charge Johnny Rider and Cassandra Bjorge and charged then with murder and aggravated assault.

APRIL 13

8:30 AM: Johnny Rider makes his first appearance and was not granted bond.
