Tow truck driver killed in I-20 accident

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – One person was killed in an accident involving a tow truck on Interstate 20 on Tuesday afternoon.

Several westbound lanes of Interstate 20 were closed before Glenwood Avenue around 3 p.m. All lanes were reopened by 5 p.m.

According to Mekka Parrish of the DeKalb County Police Department, a Ford F-450 tow truck was in the emergency lane hooking up a broken down Pontiac Grand Prix when the driver was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado.

The tow truck driver, identified by Georgia State Patrol as 45-year-old Patrick Brownlee of Stone Mountain, was killed.

There's no word yet if the driver of the Silverado will face any charges.
