Valerie Hoff is a reporter for 11Alive News. She previously anchored the Saturday and Sunday morning newscast at 9 am. Valerie has also earned esteem in Atlanta for her helpful, money-saving "Ways To Save" reports.
She joined 11Alive News (WXIA is the NBC affiliate in Atlanta, Georgia) as a reporter and anchor in January of 1999 and became the anchor of 11Alive's weekend morning shows in November 2006.
Prior to joining 11Alive, she spent more than eight years at CNN. During that time, Valerie was involved with CNN's "Headline News", "Airport Network", and was also a feature reporter.
Before her on-air positions at CNN, she served as an associate producer right here at 11Alive.
Valerie graduated with honors from Ohio University and then spent one year at Emory Law School where she was a member of the Emory Law Review.
Valerie is married to Derrick DeCarlo and they have two sons. Nicholas was born in December 2004. Jhenya was born in July, 2006 and was adopted in May, 2009 from an orphanage in Chita, Siberia in Far Eastern Russia.
In her free time, Valerie has volunteered at various organizations including AID Atlanta and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Valerie enjoys playing golf, cooking and spending time with her family. She is also proud of Daisy, the Poodle/Sheltie mix she rescued from the Atlanta Humane Society.
