MACON, Ga. -- Macon Mayor Robert Reichert has narrowly won another term in a runoff election over former Mayor C. Jack Ellis.

Reichert finished with 10,307 votes over 9,770 for Ellis with 100 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday night. The totals are unofficial.

Also, in the race for state senate District 26, former Macon City Council President Miriam Paris has defeated ex-state Rep. David Lucas. Paris finished with 12,950 votes to 10,220 for Lucas. The district includes east Macon, part of Houston County, most of Wilkinson County and all of Twiggs County.

Authorities say more than 5,900 voters cast early ballots in the run-off contest. That number is more than the 4,945 early ballots counted before the July election.
