ATLANTA -- Local, state and federal law enforcement officials are teaming up to give the public a chance to get potentially dangerous prescription drugs out of their homes.
The third National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is set for this Saturday, Oct. 29.
People can drop off their expired, unused and unwanted pills across the country free of charge, no questions asked.
The Drug Enforcement Administration says dropping off unused drugs to be destroyed can help prevent drug abuse and theft.
To find a collection site near you, visit www.dea.gov and click on the "Got Drugs?" banner, which links to a database that is searchable by zip code.
In the two previous drug take-back days, people turned in more than 309 tons of pills at more than 5,300 sites across the country.
