2011 Elite 8 Thanksgiving Hardwood Classic

ATLANTA --The 2011 Elite 8 Thanksgiving Hardwood Classic (EETHC) which will take place at Georgia State University Sports Arena on Saturday, November 19, 2011.

 The EETHC will tip-off the Georgia high school basketball season with a definite showdown of rivalry match-ups. Woodward Academy and Woodland High School (Henry Co.) in the last few years have developed a rivalry that no one can put into words. The girls and boys of Woodward and Woodland willgo head to head on a neutral court for bragging rights between these two talented programs.

 In the much anticipated showdown of the night powerhouse Southwest Dekalb ranked 39th in the nation by ESPN will take the court against 2010 4A State Runner-up Rockdale County, both are pre-season picks to be contenders for the state title in 4A this season. This early season battle on the hardwood will feature two of the Top 50 ranked high school players in the nation for the Class of 2012, Shaq Goodwin ranked #19 and Jordan Price #42 both of Southwest Dekalb.

 These high intense match-ups will give basketball fans young and old from across the Southeast the opportunity to witness three action packed games under one roof showcasing a number of America's Top 100 college recruits competing for national ranking and bragging rights.

 The participating teams in the 2011 Elite 8 Thanksgiving Hardwood Classic are Rockdale County,Southwest Dekalb, Woodland Wolfpack (Girls & Boys), Woodward Academy War Eagles (Girls &Boys).

 Match-ups and game times are as follows: 5 p.m. Woodland Lady Wolfpack vs. Woodward Academy Lady War Eagles; 7 p.m. Woodward Academy vs. Woodland; and 9 p.m. Southwest Dekalb vs. Rockdale County. Georgia State University Sports Arena is located at 125 Decatur Street, Atlanta,Georgia 30303.
