HENDERSON, Nev. -- A hacker attacked the Zappos website and gained access to sensitive customer information, the online shoe and clothing company announced Sunday.

Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh sent an email to all employees and customers, warning them that the network had been accessed through a server in Kentucky.

Information accessed by the hacker included customers' names, addresses, phone numbers and "the standard information you find on receipts," like the last four digits of credit cards numbers, according to the email.

However, "the database that stores your critical credit card and other payment data was NOT affected or accessed," Hsieh wrote in the letter.

Zappos.com customers must create new passwords for their accounts, as all existing passwords have been expired and reset in the wake of the cyber attack, according to the letter.

To change a Zappos.com password, click "Create New Password" in the upper right corner of the website and follow the instructions.
