Decatur, GA -- The United Methodist Children's Home of the North Georgia Conference in Decatur is one of four nonprofits competing for a big donation from The Home Depot Foundation.
The Home is a finalist for February's Aprons in Action, The Home Depot Foundation's Facebook voting program. The nonprofit with the most votes will win a $25,000 gift card from The Home Depot and be in the running for the grand prize of $250,000 in March.
"Being selected for the Aprons in Action program is an honor, and we are so thankful for the recognition," said Bev Cochran, administrator of the United Methodist Children's Home. "If we actually win the $25,000 The Home Depot gift card, we will be able to build a safe, fun and age-appropriate playground for our youngest children."
The runner-up organizations from each month will receive $5,000 in The Home Depot gift cards.
Voting began on February 1 and will continue through Feb. 23 at www.facebook.com/homedepotfoundation.
Hands on Greater Phoenix, Veterans Guest House in Reno and Volunteers of America Michigan in Southfield, Michigan, are the other three nonprofits competing in February.
"Aprons in Action is our $1 million effort to support the most active and engaged nonprofit organizations across the country," said Kelly Caffarelli, president of The Home Depot Foundation.
