(WXIA) -- The nation was stunned to learn of Whitney Houston's death Saturday afternoon.

The pop legend, who was only 48, recorded several hit songs during her career. Listen to some of them in the links below:

* Houston's very first No. 1 single in the U.S. and U.K. was "Saving All My Love for You" from her 1985 self-titled album.

* The second hit single from the same album was "How Will I Know" -- the song's music video was also the first from an African-American female singer to receive considerable airtime from MTV.

* "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" from Houston's second album, Whitney, was a worldwide dance hit.

* Three more songs from Whitney also topped the charts -- "Didn't We Almost Have It All," "So Emotional" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go."

* The title track from her third album, I'm Your Baby Tonight, showcased how Houston had grown as an artist.

* In 1992, Houston co-starred with Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard. She recorded a soulful version of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" for the film's soundtrack; that song is arguably the one most often associated with Houston. "Run to You" was another popular song from the film.

* Houston starred in several more movies, including Waiting to Exhale, Cinderella and The Preacher's Wife, and also provided music for the soundtracks. "I Believe in You and Me" and "Step by Step" from The Preacher's Wife were recorded at the Great Star Rising Baptist Church in Atlanta and became successful singles.

* I Look to You, Houston's final studio album, featured a minor hit titled "Million Dollar Bill" in 2009.
