ATHENS, Ga. -- Authorities say a burglar stole $1,600 in jewelry from Athens-Clarke County Mayor Nancy Denson's home.
Police said Denson reported missing diamond earrings, a 1976 University of Georgia class ring and a watch.
Athens-Clarke County police say the theft is believed to have happened sometime during the past several weeks and was reported Friday by Mayor Denson..
Police said the mayor did not name anyone she thought may have taken the items.
