DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A DeKalb County family is outraged that someone shot their black Labrador Retriever with a hunting arrow over the weekend.

Kirby Vanderyt says she found her two-year-old dog Siddie with an arrow lodged in her side Saturday afternoon.

Vanderyt rushed her dog to an 24-hour veterinary clinic.  But she ultimately had to drive her beloved pet to The University of Georgia's Veterinary Hospital for emergency surgery.

The surgeon successfully removed the arrow and says it's fortunate it didn't hit any major organs.

But now that her dog's recovering, Vanderyt says she wants to find the person responsible for shooting her in the first place.

She's contacted DeKalb County Police and Animal Control, who are both investigating the case.
