MARIETTA, Ga. (WXIA) -- The thin white line separates 3,000 pounds of metal traveling at 65 miles an hour and police officers like Marietta's Justin Rutland.

Georgia's Move Over law has been in place for a decade and says when emergency lights are flashing; you have to move over a lane. Or, if you can't because of traffic, you have to slow down.

Marietta Police say they're having more and more close calls as officers make routine traffic stops. Every officer in the department can recite a story about a vehicle coming dangerously close to hitting them as they make their way to and from their patrol car.

Instead of delivering a story about why people aren't following the law, or why they should; 11Alive's Julie Wolfe takes you inside the chaos of a traffic enforcement officer as he travels close to the thin white line. He'll convince you.
