ATLANTA -- The State Board of Pardons and Paroles has granted a stay of up to 90 days to condemned inmate Daniel Greene.
In a statement released Tuesday, the board said the stay was issued to allow more time to examine claims from Greene's representatives at a hearing on Tuesday. The board says they may lift the stay and grant clemency, commuting Greene's death sentence to life in prison, or they may deny clemency.

Greene was sentenced to death for malice murder in the 1991 stabbing death of Bernard Walker during a convenience store robbery in Taylor County. Greene was scheduled to die by lethal injection on Thursday evening.
