NORCROSS, Ga. -- Gwinnett County Police are investigating the shooting of a business owner on Singleton Road late Monday afternoon. Police said it happened during an attempted robbery.
Shortly before 5 p.m. Jeremy Williams, 20, walked into the tax office and insurance company and tried to rob it, according to Gwinnett County Police.
The owner of the business, Damien Ekezie, 56, struggled with Williams and was shot once in the head. He chased the suspect out of the store. Police were able to arrest Williams after getting a description from witnesses.
Ekezie was conscious and alert when police arrived on the scene but was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wound to his head.
