ATLANTA -- A woman who got into the tunnel between MARTA's Georgia State University and Five Points stations is in stable condition after making contact with a train.
MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris said it's still not clear how 33-year-old Winter Barnes got into the restricted area or came into contact with a westbound train at about 12:20 p.m. Monday.
MARTA had to turn the electricity off the tracks to rescue the woman and investigate the incident.
As a result, a number of people were trapped on a train inside the tunnel for several hours. The GSU station was also temporarily shut down.
In the meantime, MARTA offered a bus bridge to passengers along the East-West line.
