Alert from Texas A&M's website Monday
COLLEGE STATION, TX -- Police now say the gunman was also killed in a shooting near the campus of Texas A&M Monday.
A police officer and a second person were killed. A second police officer was reported injured.
Bryan Police spokesman Jon Agnew says police don't know if the shooter was a student at A&M.
Bryan is College Station's sister city and its officers are assisting in the case.
The university first reported the shooting at about 1:30 pm ET, and said he was in custody about 15 minutes later. The school issued what they term a "Code Maroon" alert on their emergency website, and advised students and university personnel to avoid the area of the shooting.
A spokeswoman for the school northwest of Houston says most students were not on campus today.
