ATLANTA, Ga. -- Residents are invited to an Open House hosted by the McPherson Community Engagement Subcommittee and Atlanta City Council Member Joyce Sheperd.

The meeting will be held at Fort McPherson. Presentations will provide information on the "timeline for negotiations and property transfer."

According to a release from the city, "the city of Atlanta has a goal of redeveloping the 488-acre former Army site to create jobs and promote economic development."

The City of Atlanta plans to re purpose the space with an "event space, paths, and bike trails that would wrap the property connecting MARTA station to MARTA station. Also plans are being made for a consolidated police and fire safety academy for the City of Atlanta."

The meeting will be held at Fort McPherson which is located at 1794 Walker Avenue SW in Atlanta.
