DALLAS, Ga. -- Paulding County authorities are heading to Arizona and Ohio to visit Paul and Sheila Comer's family following their arrest for false imprisonment and cruelty to children.
A lawyer for a Georgia man accused of sending his emaciated teenage stepson to Los Angles says his client intends to plead not guilty.
An Oct. 4 court hearing is set for Comer and his wife, Sheila Comer.
Authorities say 18-year-old Mitch Comer told police he was forced to kneel for hours at a time by his stepfather and mother, who are accused of confining the teen in a bedroom in their Paulding County home for years before the child was sent to Los Angeles.
Renee Rockwell, a lawyer for Sheila Comer, has said her client is also pleading not guilty to the charges.
