ATLANTA -- Firefighters say the sprinkler system prevented a Kroger store fire from spreading Wednesday evening.
Atlanta Fire Battalion Chief Todd Edwards said crews arrived at the Caroline Street store just after 11 p.m. and found smoke coming from the rear.
The fire was located in a food storage room. The sprinkler system contained the blaze. Edwards said.
The store was evacuated before firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported.
Investigators determined that an electrical malfunction caused the fire.
The store reopened at 11 a.m Thursday.
