ATLANTA -- The outbreak of fungal meningitis linked to steroid shots for back pain has expanded again.
The latest numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, released Thursday afternoon, show 170 cases. Fourteen people have died so far.
Idaho has been added to the list of states affected by the outbreak, bringing that total to 11. Other states on the list include Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia.
The meningitis has been traced back to medication made by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts. That medication has since been recalled.
