ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons released defensive end Ray Edwards on Monday evening.
According to a release from the team, Edwards was signed by the Falcons as a free agent on July 29, 2011 to a 5-year $27.5 million contract.
Edwards, 6-5, 268 pounds, was selected as a fourth round (127th pick overall) draft choice by the Minnesota Vikings in 2006.
He was replaced in the lineup after the Falcons bye week. No word on a replacement.
