(WXIA) -- Prevention Magazine claims that food items like "yogurt, fish, beef and mushrooms" boost immunity and fight illness.

The list called "9 Power Foods That Boost Immunity" can add an "extra flu-fighting punch to your winter eating plan" along with the recommended fruit, veggies and 8-to-10 glasses of water per day.

The article cites yogurt for it's probotics or "live cultures", fish for it's omega-3 fats which "work to reduce inflammation", beef as a source of zinc and mushrooms because they "increase the production of white blood cells."

Also included on the list are oats and barley, garlic, chicken soup, tea and sweet potatoes.
