ATLANTA -- "Apple picking" is growing around metro Atlanta, and we're not talking about fruit.
Thieves are walking up to people and snatching iPhones right from people's hands.
A self-proclaimed iPhone thief shared some tips on how to avoid the crime.
First, get off the phone. If you're texting or talking, you're a target.
Second, don't leave it lying around. The thief says he's taken phones right off the table at coffee shops, restaurants, even counters in bathrooms.
One last warning, he says thieves are more likely to strike around 5:00 p.m., when people get out of work. He says that's when thieves can blend into the crowd and when tired workers drop their guard.
