EAST POINT, Ga. -- The 11Alive Help Desk wants to make seniors 60 years of age or older living in East Point aware of the Transportation Reimbursement for East Point (TREP) voucher program.
The program is available through the East Point Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC), and is designed for individuals who are unable to drive or use public transportation; are 60 years of age or older and reside in East Point, Georgia.
Residents who qualify for the TREP program must identify a person who lives outside of their home (a relative, associate or friend) as their main transportation service provider.
Once that person has been identified, a voucher booklet can be purchased for $10.
According to Leslie Bridges, East Point NORC Program Coordinator, two to three voucher booklets per person can be purchased at this time. Each booklet is valued at $100.
How it works: Drivers calculate mileage from the duration of the time they head out to pick up a senior, drive them to their desired location, and drop them off back at their homes. When the trip is complete, the senior would turn over the voucher to the driver, who would then return the form to the NORC office for travel reimbursement.
TREP is funded in part by the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta.
