ATLANTA -- Five years ago today a tornado ripped through downtown damaging buildings.
The EF-2 tornado caused millions of dollars of damage to buildings.
The tornado touched down just west of the downtown Atlanta and moved eastward toward the Georgia World Congress Center and the Georgia Dome with the SEC basketball conference taking place.
The tornado then traveled across the CNN Omni Hotel and Phillips Arena where the Hawks were playing the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Tornado finally lifted as it moved into extreme western Dekalb County and resulted in one death and about 30 injuries.
