(WXIA) -- Twenty Georgia students were put to the test today that will send one of them to the national competition to represent Georgia.

For parents, the competition was just as intense.

Students came from across the state to compete at the state level, after winning local and regional rounds.

The winner was 13-year-old Nicholas Poulos, a 7th grader at Wesleyan School in Gwinnett. He will compete in the national spelling bee in may.
